Saccharodite nishidai Zelazny , sp. nov.

Description. Forewings broad, 1.8 times longer than wide, length: male 3.3–3.9 mm, female 3.7–4.1 mm. Colour stramineous; margins of facial carinae in front of eyes orange-brown, an orange-red mark on antennae of holotype, but not on paratypes. Forewings slightly powdered; a prominent, infuscated mark at apex of clavus; very faintly infuscated at base of Ms1, from base of Ms2 to 2nd costal cell and along apical crossveins; veins stramineous; some vein section adjoining apical crossveins very faintly tinted with orange; a section of costal margin next to last subcostal sector orange (in holotype but not in all paratypes); two (holotype) to four small dark spots on base of Sc+R, the distal one more prominent, extending to base of 1st subcostal sector. Hindwings colourless. In profile junction of vertex and face rounded; subantennal process not connected to margins of facial carinae; rostrum reaching hind coxae. Forewings with Sc+R fork at middle of wing; basal median cell slightly wider than basal cell between Sc+R and M; a triangle at base of Ms1 (holotype) which may be small or absent. Male genitalia with pygofer narrow. Genital styles oval; proximal dorsal process short and slender; distal dorsal process elongated. apical part of aedeagus short, the tip membranous.

Etymology. The species is named for Gordon Nishida of the BPBM who greatly facilitated the work on the BPBM material and ' nishidai ' is a latinized noun used in the genitive case.

Distribution. New Guinea.

Diagnosis. Saccharodite nishidai resembles closely Sa. nervosa sp. nov. and Sa. modesta sp. nov., both also from New Guinea. However, it has a prominent dark mark on the clavus tip of the forewings and no faint infuscation along Cu and Cu1.
