Redescription. Forewings length about 2.6 mm. Colour stramineous to light brown; clypeus, a mark above eyes, sides of pronotum, and hind parts of mesonotum (but not scutellum) orange-brown. Forewings glassy; faintly infuscated from clavus tip to base of Ms1, around base of Ms2, and along apical cross-veins; veins stramineous, but faintly orange in infuscated areas; last subcostal sector red; 3 dark spots on base of Sc+R. Hindwings colourless. In profile junction of vertex and face very slightly angulated; subantennal processes well separated from margins of facial carinae; rostrum reaching hind coxae. Forewing shape and venation like in Sa. basipunctulata (Melichar) .

Etymology. Derived from the island of Palau, the latinized species name ( palauensis , -ensis, -ense) is an adjective.

Type material. Holotype ♂ MICRONESIA: PALAU ISLANDS; labels: 1) BABELTHUAP I./ Palau Islands / 12 Dec. 1947 2) wooded peak/ SW. of Ulimang 3) Pacific Sci. Board / Ent. Surv. of/ Micronesia / H.S. Dybas leg. 4) Levu / matsumurae/ palauensis/ Fenn. ( USNM #62160 View Materials ).

Other material examined. MICRONESIA: PALAU ISLANDS: Kokor, IV.1954, unknown sex, J.W. Beardsley ( BPBM).

Distribution. Palau Islands, Micronesia.

Diagnosis. Saccharodite palauensis , like other species of Saccharodite from Micronesia, resembles Sa. basipunctulata (Melichar) which is also found in Palau. It can be recognized by its orange clypeus.
