Description. Forewings broad, 1.8 times longer than wide, length: male 2.4–2.7 mm (mean = 2.6, n = 3), female about 3.3 mm. Colour stramineous; margins of facial carinae light orange; eyes red. Forewings with an infuscated band along apical crossveins; a fainter broader mark between clavus tip and apex of basal median cell; veins colourless but apical crossveins and adjoining sections of main veins bright red; 2 dark spots on base of Sc+R. Hindwings colourless. In profile junction of vertex and face rounded; subantennal processes not connected to margins of facial carinae; rostrum slightly surpassing hind coxae. Forewings with Sc+R fork just before middle of wing; basal median cell slightly broader than basal cell between Sc+R and M, no triangle at base of Ms1. Male genitalia with pygofer narrow. Genital styles oval; proximal dorsal process short and slender; distal process long. Apical part of aedeagus short, tip membranous.

Etymology. The species name is a Latin adjective (rubilineatus, -a, -um = with red lines).

Type material. Holotype ♂ (forewing 2.6 mm), SOLOMON ISLANDS; labels: 1) SOLOMON IS./ SANTA YSABEL / Buala , 20. VII.'64 2) R. Straatman / Light Trap / BISHOP ( BPBM) . Paratypes. SOLOMON ISLANDS: NW, Malaita, Dala , 19. 30. VI .1964, 1 ♂ (fw. 2.7) 1 ♀ (fw. 3.3), Malaise trap, R . Straatman; Bougainville (S), Boku , 50 m, 4. VI .1956, 1 ♂ (fw. 2.4), J.L. Gressitt (all BPBM); Kolombangara, 1 mile inland from Kuzi , 9.IX.1965, 1 ♀ (fw. 3.4), black light ( BMNH) .

Distribution. Solomon Islands.

Diagnosis. Saccharodite rubilineata can be easily recognized by the bright red apical crossveins contrasting with the remaining colourless veins.
