Description. Forewings 2.1 times longer than wide, length: male about 4.0 mm, female 4.1–4.9 mm (mean = 4.6, n = 4). Colour stramineous to light brown. Forewings white, powdered; bands of light infuscation from apex of Cu to base of Ms1, from base of Ms2 to Sc+R fork, and along apical crossveins; veins mostly light brown, some stramineous, no orange sections on costal margin; 4 dark spots on base of Sc+R. Hindwings colourless. In profile junction of vertex and face rounded; subantennal processes not connected to margins of facial carinae; rostrum slightly surpassing hind coxae. Forewings with Sc+R fork before middle of wing; basal median cell slightly broader than basal cell between Sc+R and M; a triangle at base of Ms1. Male genitalia with pygofer narrow. Genital styles oval; proximal dorsal process short and slender, its tip pointed and curved inwards, distal dorsal process long. Apical part of aedeagus short, without processes or lobes.

Etymology. The species name is a Latin adjective (nervosus, -a, -um = with nerves or tendons).

Type material. Holotype ♂ (forewing 4.0 mm), PAPUA NEW GUINEA; labels: 1) NEW GUINEA ( NE) / Daulo Pass 2500 m. / (Asaro-Chimbu div.) / June 12, 1955 2) J.L. Gressitt / Collector ( BPBM) . Paratypes. PAPUA NEW GUINEA: NEW GUINEA ( NE): same data as holotype, 1 ♂ (fw. 3.9) 2 ♀ (fw. 4.1, 4.5); Keglsugl , 2700 m, 10–11.VIII.1969, 1 ♀ (fw. 4.9), Podocarpus, J.L. Gressitt (all BPBM); PAPUA : Mt. Tafa , 8,500 ft [2,800 m], III .1934, 1 ♀ (fw. 4.9), L.E. Cheesman ( BMNH) .

Distribution. New Guinea.

Diagnosis. Saccharodite nervosa resembles closely Sa. modesta sp. nov., also from New Guinea. However, it has darker infuscation on the forewings, usually darker forewing veins, and no orange-red sections on the costal margin.
