Description. Forewings 1.9 times longer than wide, length: male 3.5–4.2 mm (mean = 3.9, n = 12), female 3.2–4.6 mm (mean = 4.0, n = 5). Colour stramineous including pronotum; mesonotum light brown, gradually turning orange towards scutellum which is completely orange in holotype, but in some paratypes only partly orange; middle of femora with longitudinal red stripes. Forewings infuscated as in Sa. montana , veins faintly orange in all infuscated areas and often (but not in holotype) also in other areas. Male genitalia with pygofer narrow. Genital styles oval; proximal dorsal process short and slender, a small hump at its base; distal dorsal process long. Aedeagus with a thick stem, and a very small apical portion, at the tip tapering and with 2 small contiguous lobes.

Etymology. The species name is a Latin adjective (minusculus, -a, -um = rather small).

Distribution. Islands of New Guinea and New Britain.

Diagnosis. Saccharodite minuscula resembles closely Sa. montana sp. nov., also from New Guinea. It can be recognized by the middle of the pronotum not being coloured orange, by the red stripes on the middle femora, and by the very small apical portion of the male aedeagus.
