Neohybos colombiensis View in CoL sp. n.
( Figs. 14–22 View FIGURES 14–22 , 76 View FIGURES 74–81 )
Diagnosis. Thorax dark-brown to black, brown pruinose except for pronotum, basal two-thirds of scutum and postpronotal lobe; thoracic setae brown, short, scattered, acr lacking in prescutellar disc; dc pair rather strong on prescutellar disc, as long as apical scutellar pair; wing evenly brownish, stigma brown; fore and mid leg pale-brown to yellow, hind leg brown except basal third of tibia and tarsomeres 1 and 2 yellow; abdomen and legs clothed with yellow bristles.
Description. Holotype male. Body: 4.7 mm. Wing: 5.1 mm. Antenna placed in middle of head; postpedicel oval, 2 times longer than wide, subequal in length to scape and pedicel combined, inner face concave and outer face convex basally. Face narrowly dichoptic, rather shorter than frons. Pair of ocellar setae slender and parallel. Postcranium with scattered brown pruinescence; brown and short occipital setae.
Thorax dark-brown to black; brown pruinose except for pronotum, basal two-thirds of scutum and postpronotal lobe lacking pruinescence; setae brown, short, scattered; acr and dc uniserial; acr lacking on prescutellar disc; dc pair rather strong on prescutellar disc, as long as apical scutellar pair; 2 npl as long as apical scutellar pair; scutellum with 3 pairs long, apical pair slightly longer and more robust than laterals.
Wing ( Fig. 76 View FIGURES 74–81 ) somewhat widened but with costal cell narrow; evenly brownish, stigma brown; R45 and M1 parallel.
Legs: fore and mid leg pale-brown to yellow, hind leg brown except basal third of tibia and tarsomeres 1 and 2 yellow. Hind femur slightly thickened, almost 6 times longer than wide; hind tibia tubular, slightly falciform. Outstanding bristles: fore tibia with 1 long anterior and 1 posterior preapical bristle reaching half length of corresponding tarsomere 1; mid tibia with 3 long and thin anterodorsal bristles on basal half, 1 long ventral apical bristle reaching apex of corresponding tarsomere 1; mid tarsomere 1 with 1 long posteroventral subbasal bristle reaching apex; hind trochanter with 2 yellow, spine-like posteroventral bristles; hind femur with 2 anterodorsal bristles on distal quarter, 1 anterior on basal third, 8 elongate and strong anteroventral bristles, 15 spine-like ventral bristles decreasing in length toward apex of femur, 6 posteroventral bristles on distal half and 1 on base; hind tibia with some long slender dorsal bristles; hind tarsomere 1 with 1 anteroventral at base and some preapical bristles.
Abdomen narrow, 2.7 times longer than thorax length; brown with brown pruinescence on Tg1, base of Tg2 and Tg8; long thin yellow bristles on Tg1 and distal margin of St8. Terminalia ( Figs. 14–18 View FIGURES 14–22 ): left and right epandrial lamellae bifid distally, with two prolonged and thin processes, parallel on right lamella and divergent on left lamella; hypandrium short, left hypandrial lobe wide and long, abruptly narrowed distally, 1.5 times length of base of hypandrium; right hypandrial lobe wide on basal half and slender on remaining, with pointed inner process in middle; hypandrial arms short, dorsal bridge membranous; phallus long, bent back at distal third, with ventral longitudinal series of 7–8 tubercles in middle; postgonites narrow, ribbonlike.
Female. Similar to male except for: postpedicel straight; scutellum with 1 strong apical pair, straight, slightly divergent and 4 short and thin lateral bristles approximately one-third length of apical pair; hind femur slightly more slender than male, with 1 dorsal bristle at distal fifth, 1 anterior at distal third, anterodorsal row with 8 elongate bristles (2 basal and 6 at distal two-thirds), distal half with some short spine-like ventral bristles with protuberant bases and 6 short posteroventral bristles; hind trochanter lacking spine-like bristles. Terminalia ( Figs. 19–22 View FIGURES 14–22 ): eighth segment asymmetrical, sclerites of segment 8 fused, basal half of segment 8 membranous ventrally, with small protuberance on right lateral surface and small pilose apical plate ventrally.
Distribution. Colombia.
Type material. Holotype male: COLOMBIA: Culva of los Guacharis Huila, 14–21.v. [19]76, M. Cooper, BM, 1995E-90 ( BMNH) . Paratype: same data, 1 female ( BMNH) .
Etymology. The specific name refers to country of the types.
