Type species.— Hemidictya distanti Brancsik, 1893: 253 (Nossi-Bè, Madagascar) .
Remarks.—A monospecific genus containing a cicada that is a leaf mimic. The species has been used numerous times as an example of leaf mimicry (see references in Metcalf 1963b; Sanborn 2013; Ruschel & Campos 2019; Sanborn et al. 2020)
Distribution.—The only known species is restricted to Madagascar ( Metcalf 1963b; Sanborn 2013; Ruschel & Campos 2019; Sanborn et al. 2020).
