Type species.— Trismarcha umbrosa Karsch 1891: 349 ( Barombi Station , Cameroon) .
Remarks.—The genus is characterized by the head being wider than the mesonotum, a vertex twice as wide as the eye, anterior postclypeus swollen, somewhat prominent with a complete central sulcus, ocelli well separated from eyes, obliquely angled, convex, not carinate lateral prothorax, not prominent posterior to the eyes, fore wing median and cubitus anterior veins separated at basal cell, ulnar cells 1 and 2 about the same length, and width, radial crossvein obliquely angled, the short and wide male abdomen, timbals strongly angled posteromedially, pygofer with prominent dorsal beak, the kidney-shaped male opercula with a wide tip, broad, sharply triangular meracanthus, and spined fore femora ( Karsch 1891). Karsch (1891) compares it to Abroma Stål, 1866 in his original description distinguishing the new genus by the obliquely angled fore wing radial crossvein, broad male opercula, and short, stocky male abdomen.
Distribution.—The genus is distributed in Madagascar and throughout much of Africa ( Metcalf 1963b; Duffels & van der Laan 1985; Sanborn 2013).
