TYPE SPECIMEN. — Lectotype female no. 11 134 designated by Watson (1973: 43) ( USNM).

Strand has described an infrasubspecific name associated with this taxon:
Antarctia sericea sericea ab. brunneivenis Strand, 1919: 314. — Type locality: Brazil. — Type specimens: Undisclosed number of male syntypes ( BMNH; not found) .
