1. * Mimosa acutistipula (Martius) Benth. var. acutistipula
J.R.I. Wood et al. 24854, 25193, 25841 and 26081 (LPB, K) are apparently the first Bolivian records for this species representing a significant range extension beyond the previously known distribution in central and eastern Brazil ( Barneby 1991: 129 MAP 9). Collected in three disparate localities in Provs. Angel Sandoval and Chiquitos, Santa Cruz, potentially widespread in eastern Bolivia, and apparently becoming more frequent following disturbance along the line of the newly constructed road from Santa Cruz to Brazil ( Wood 2011). This material is a good match for M. acutistipula , although J.R.I. Wood et al. 25193 and 26081 (both from Quimome) have leaves with fewer (14–19 as opposed to 20–31) pairs of leaflets per pinna than typical material. In Bolivia this species occurs locally around rock platforms (known locally as “lajas”) and in similar places on roadsides.
