It is present in Brazil, Colombia, and Peru. The description of this species in Panama was questioned; in fact, it is not included in the area of distribution ( Keirans and Ajohda 2003). This tick parasitizes mammals of the order Rodentia , mainly Agouti paca , the genus Dasyprocta ( D. variegatus ) with female and immature stages; males of I. fuscipes are not researched (BarrosBattesti et al. 2006; Martins et al. 2014).
