1.2.1. Curtonotum View in CoL View at ENA sensu stricto (sensu Klymko and Marshall 2011)

Species included: 27 (Neotropical).

Synapomorphies: 5 strong anepisternal setae (11), wing membrane pale brown, darker at dm–cu crossvein and in apical region of veins R 2+3, R 4+5, M (14), phallapodeme with broad laterally flattened “fan” (33) and surstyli and postgonites collectively quadrate (shaped like a Dodo’s bill) (53). Only three Neotropical species were included in the morphological analyses so synapomorphic characters cannot be fully assessed. Klymko and Marshall (2011) proposed that the Neotropical species of Curtonotum be regarded as Curtonotum sensu stricto, which is adopted here, with good support for the monophyly the group indicated in all trees, except the results of the morphological phylogenetic analysis. The position of Curtonotum (s. s.) in respect to the Afrotropical C. striatifrons species-group remains unresolved however.
