Pseudomictis Hsiao View in CoL

Pseudomictis Hsiao, 1963: 319 View in CoL , 336. Type species: Pseudomictis brevicornis Hsiao, 1963 View in CoL

DIAGNOSIS: Pseudomictis Hsiao is close to Mictiopsis Hsiao. The distribution of known species of two genera are restricted to southwest of Oriental Region. Both species have two spines on the male’s abdominal segment III. Pseudomictis is distinguished from Mictiopsis in having the third sternum of abdomen posteriorly produced in medially in the male (Figs. 58). In Mictiopsis , the third sternum of abdomen is not posteriorly produced and there are long spines on the posterior femora which are not found in other genera of Mictini . Pseudomictis is also allied to Pternistria Stål , but this genus has two additional spines on the fourth sternum of the abdomen.

GENERIC REDESCRIPTION:

Body large, relative slim and pilose.

Head: Quadrate, apex of tylus bending downward between antenniferous tubercles. Vertex divided into two parts by a longitudinal groove. Eyes globose, almost touching anterior margin of pronotum, ocelli red, near eyes. Antenna cylindrical, shorter than the length of body; antennal segment IV is the longest, segment I is longer than segment II, segment III is shortest. Antennal formula: IV>I>II>III. Antennal segment slightly curved. Rostrum short, not reaching middle of mesosternum.

Thorax: Pronotum trapziform, declivent; separated at middle by a short longitudinal fuscous stripe; frontal angles not exposed; lateral angles somewhat rounded, a little raised; anterolateral margin straight or slightly concavegranulose in some species; posterolateral margin slightly protuberant and smooth. Fore and mesofemora straight, a little thickened subapically, with small spines ventrally; tibiae with apices thickened but not dilated; metacoxae remote from one another; metafemora inflated and recurved; metatibiae dilated on both sides. Scutellum triangular, transversely rugulose, apex acute; frontal edge as long as clavus and claval commissure. Hemelytra, in macropters, reaching apex of last abdominal segment; membrane somewhat metallic in colour.

Abdomen: In male, sternum III produced posteriorly in middle and with a spinous tubercle on each side; sternum IV also produced posteriorly in middle with sternum III, nearly reaching posterior margin of sternum V and strongly elevated on sternum V. In female, posterior margins of sterna II and III protruding triangularly medially.

Genitalia: Male genital capsule cuculliform, posteroventral edge entire; phallus very similar to that of genus Mictis ; two helical curves near base of ejaculatory duct; vesica strongly sclerotized. Paramere strongly curved, apical half slender ( Fig. 1).
