Genus Pachygrapsus Randall, 1840

Type species. Pachygrapsus crassipes Randall, 1840 [Type locality: Cuba] .

Remarks. Pachygrapsus encompass three species in the southwestern Atlantic: P. corrugatus (von Martens, 1872) , P. gracilis (de Saussure, 1858) and P. transversus ( Gibbes, 1850) . Pachygrapsus gracilis and P. transversus were both recorded for the first time from Trindade by Melo (1996; 1998) and these records were repeated by subsequent authors (e.g. Almeida & Coelho 2008 and references therein). Actually, both records were not based on actual specimens and should be dismissed as they cannot be authenticated (see also Tavares et al. 2017).
