Distribution. Europe. Portugal: three northernmost provinces.

Ecology. Recorded from four macrohabitat categories in Portugal, most frequently from agricultural land. In northwestern Europe, S. contristans is most frequently found in dry open short-grazed biotopes (e.g., dry heathland, dunes) or open forests on sandy soil.

Rarity (%). 12.6 (common). Fairly common (FL).

Activity period. June–September.
