Female and larva unknown.

Systematic remarks. The male imago of S. figueiredoensis sp. nov. would key to couplet 20 ( S. impendens / S. aculeatus ) in Borkent (1984) and coloration of abdomen easily distinguish it from these species.

Notes on biology of the species. The specimens were reared from leaves collected retained in submerged branches and roots, both in areas with strong water flow in large rivers, as in small streams with about 20 cm wide.
