Scotiptera Macquart View in CoL View at ENA

Scotiptera Macquart, 1835: 215 View in CoL . Type species: Sophia pellucida Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 View in CoL , by subsequent designation (Stephens in Richardson, 1838: 412).

Originally Included species: Sophia pellucida Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 View in CoL ; Scotiptera punctata View in CoL Robineau- Desvoidy, 1830.

Family: Tachinidae .

Current status: Valid genus [teste Guimarães (1971: 34)].

Remarks: Guimarães (1971: 34) gave the typification as Dexia melaleuca Wiedemann, 1830 by Macquart (1844: 240). Dexia melaleuca Wiedemann was not one of the originally included species, but by placing Sophia punctata Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 in synonymy with it, the designation is validly proposed but later than that of Stephens in Richardson (1838).
