Type locality: ‘Botafogo Bay, Rio de Janeiro (3 fathoms). Collected by J. Macgillivray, Esq., during the voyage of the ‘Rattlesnake’’.

Label locality: ‘3 fms. Botafogo Bay, Rio de Janeiro’ ( NHMUK 1860.5.2.28/1-3), ‘Rio de Janeiro Rattlesnake ’ ( NHMUK 1860.4.21.31).

Collector: J. Macgillivray, H.M.S. Rattlesnake.

Type material: Lectotype NHMUK 1860.5.2.28/1 and 2 paralectotypes NHMUK 1860.5.2.28/2-3, 1 paralectotype NHMUK 1860.4.21.31. Indirect lectotype selection by inference of holotype ( Cernohorsky, 1969: 213).
