Identification of Bactrodes View in CoL , host plants, prey and trapped carrion insects, and egg parasitoids

Voucher specimens of Bactrodes were identified using Coscarón and Melo (2003). Host plants were identified by Humberto Mendoza, Fabian Michelangeli, and Theodore Cochrane from field photographs and identifications are provided in Table 1. Prey insects were preserved in 96% ethanol together with the feeding Bactrodes individuals. Prey and trapped carrion specimens were classified to order and family, where possible, using standard insect identification literature. The identity of egg parasitoids as a species of Trichogramma (Trichogrammatidae) and a species of Telenomus (Scelionidae) were confirmed by Richard Stouthamer and Norman Johnson, respectively.
