SUBFAMILY DESMOSOMATINAE Hessler, 1970 View in CoL
Diagnosis. Desmosomatidae with ®rst pereopod similar in size and structure to the second pereopod or smaller, with reduced setation. Propodus of the ®rst pereopod more slender than that of second pereopod. Anterior pereopods with slender and elongate ischium, carpus and propodus. First and second pereonites subequal, except in species with specialized ®rst pereopod when ®rst pereonite is smaller.
Remarks. This subfamily is clearly distinguished from the subfamily
Eugerdellatinae by the more slender ®rst pereopod.
