A ubiquitous peregrine species. One of the most abundant earthworms. Epi-endogeic.

Note: L. rubellus is known to be represented by several genetic lineages ( Donnelly et al. 2013; Porco et al. 2013; Giska et al. 2015; Martinsson & Erséus, 2017). Only lineage 2 (sensu Porco et al. 2013) was found in Belarus.
