Cheliplana pusilla Brunet, 1968

Material examined. 1 serially sectioned specimen from France (the holotype) ( SMNH Type 2820) .

Known distribution. Golfe de Marseille, France ( Brunet 1968).

Remarks Our observations correspond to those of Brunet (1968). Specimens are small and unpigmented, with a total body length of 0.5–0.6 mm. The proboscis hooks are 12–14 μm long.A single testis is present near the pharynx. The copulatory bulb is situated in the posterior third of the body and is ~50 μm long. A pair of seminal vesicles proximally enters the copulatory bulb. The copulatory bulb is entirely surrounded by longitudinal muscles. Circular muscles surrounding the distal half of the copulatory bulb were observed. The distal part of the ejaculatory duct forms a cirrus armed with fine spines. Proximally, the cirrus is a slightly curved tube with very fine spines. Distally, the tube is asymmetrical and provided with large spines. This distal part measures 10–12 μm.

A single, large ovary lies in the posterior part of the body, partly alongside the male copulatory apparatus. A globular bursa is situated near the caudal body end and, according to Brunet (1968), connects to the ovary via a very small, sclerotised spermatic duct. Upon examination of the serially sectioned holotype, we did not observe this connection. A vagina externa was not observed.
