Listroptera atra Chevrolat 1855: 180 View in CoL .

Dihammaphora atra View in CoL ; Aurivillius 1912: 429; Monné 1993: 80 (cat.); Monné and Giesbert 1995: 125.

Description. Integument uniformly black. Frons, clypeus and genae shiny, minutely, densely punctocorrugate. Frons densely whitish pubescent. Vertex opaque, velvetlike, coarsely, irregularly punctate, sparsely, whitish setose. Antennae with scape opaque, subglabrous. Segments 2–11 with long, whitish hairs at apices and beneath, 5–11 denser whitish pubescent. Prothorax cylindrical, somewhat rounded at sides, gradually attenuate to apex and base. Pronotum with two large, close, feebly prominent, antemedian gibbosities and a prominent gibbosity on each side near base, transversely impressed behind middle. Pronotum and sides of prothorax opaque, coarsely punctoreticulate; pronotum with long, erect, whitish hairs, denser on apical half. Prosternum opaque, inconspicuously whitish pubescent. Elytra strongly impressed on each side of scutellum; surface, except humeri and base which are subglabrous, clothed with short, silky, white pubescence, not obscuring punctures. Intercoxal process of prosternum and mesosternum densely clothed with whitish pubescence, almost obscuring integument. Metasternum coarsely, irregularly densely punctate, with very dense, long, whitish flying hairs; moderately pubescent laterally, more densely medially. Urosternites clothed with short, silky, whitish pubescence, intermingled with long, very dense, whitish hairs; punctures shallow, close, finer than on metasternum. Femoral peduncles with moderately long, sparse, whitish setae; clubs moderately densely whitish pubescent, with sparse, erect, yellowish setae. Tibiae opaque, with long, whitish hairs. First urosternite longer than 2nd and 3rd combined.

Measurements, in mm, respectively for?//: total length, 9.2–13.2/8.7–12.8; prothorax length, 2.0–3.2/1.8–3.0; prothorax width, 1.7–2.7/1.5–2.3; elytral length, 5.7–8.5/5.1–8.0; humeral width, 2.0–3.0/1.8–2.8.

Types. The species was described from a single specimen from ‘‘Brésil’’ ( Chevrolat 1855). The holotype, deposited in The Natural History Museum, London, was examined by means of a diapositive.

Remarks. This species is distinguished by the uniformly black integument and coarsely punctoreticulate pronotum which is entirely hairy and quadrituberculate. The species also differs by the sixth antennal segment being less pyramidal and the more or less rounded prothorax. Haenkea atra is the only species hitherto recorded from the Brazilian Atlantic forest.
