Description. Integument brownish, head, antennae, legs, meso and metasternum dark er. Prothorax and back of head, orangish. Pronotum uniformly orangish or with one to five dark subrounded spots. Humeri and elytral costae blackish. Head densely, shallowly punctulate. Frons densely clothed with yellowish appressed pubescence. Vertex opaque, velvetlike, with coarse, shallow, irregularly dense punctures, and two long, erect hairs on each side near upper eye lobes. Genae about as long as lower eye lobes. Antennae with scape subglabrous, shallowly, densely punctulate; segments beyond 5 denser whitish pubescent; elongate pilosity lacking. Prothorax cylindrical, slightly attenuate at apical third, feebly enlarged at middle and near base. Pronotum feebly raised at middle, with a moderately prominent gibbosity on each side near base. Pronotum and sides of prothorax opaque, almost impunctate, inconspicuously transversely rugose, apical third of pronotum sparsely orangish setose. Prosternum subopaque. Elytra feebly impressed on each side of scutellum, uniformly, densely clothed with short, yellowish, appressed pubescence, almost obscuring punctures. Intercoxal process of prosternum, mesosternum, metasternum and urosternites densely clothed with appressed, silky, whitish pubescence, obscuring integument. Metasternum and urosternistes with moderately long, moderately dense, erect pale hairs. Femora sparsely clothed with yellowish pubescence. Tibiae with short, yellowish hairs. First urosternite litlle longer than 2nd and 3rd combined.
Measurements, in mm, respectively for?//: total length, 12.0–13.0/9.0–11.5; prothorax length, 2.8–3.3/2.3–3.0; prothorax width, 2.2–2.5/1.5–2.0; elytral length, 7.3–8.0/ 5.7–7.0; humeral width, 2.5–2.8/1.8–2.7.
Types. Tippmann (1953) based the species on several specimens recorded from ‘‘Region Chapare´, Bolívia, 400 m. ’’ We examined male and a female paratypes ( DZUP). The holotype is deposited in the National Museum of Natural History , Washington, and was examined by means of a diapositive .
Remarks. Haenkea zishkai is similar to H. thoracica by the orangish and almost parallelsided prothorax. It differs, in addition to the characters mentioned in the key, by the brown integument, the uniform and very dense pubescence which obscures the undersurface of the body and the presence of only two long hairs on each side of the head, near the upper eye lobes. In addition, the elytra and abdomen of H. zischkai are proportionally longer than those of H. thoracica .
