Cephennula densepunctata View in CoL sp. n.

( Figs. 3 View FIGURES 3 – 7 , 13, 14)

Holotype: E MALAYSIA: 3, two labels: " SABAH \ Crocker Ra. \ 1550-1650 m \ 16.V.1987 \ Burckhardt - Löbl" [white, printed]; " CEPHENNULA \ densepunctata m. \ det. P. Jałoszyński, 2011 \ HOLOTYPUS " [red, printed] ( MHNG).

Diagnosis. Body reaching 1 mm in length; antennal club strongly flattened and compact; dorsum of head densely covered with large and deep punctures; punctures on frons and vertex nearly equally distributed; median part of pronotum with dense punctures; sublateral pronotal carinae as long as pronotum; subhumeral carinae slightly shorter than 1/ 3x EL, humeral carinae distinctly shorter; aedeagus in ventral view drop-shaped, with triangular and pointed apex of median lobe; endophallus with two pairs of elongate sclerites—median pair strongly curved laterally and lateral pair nearly straight.

Description. Body of male ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 3 – 7 ) strongly convex, elongate, with shallow but distinct constriction between pronotum and elytra, moderately glossy, dark brown, covered with yellowish vestiture, legs and antennae slightly lighter. BL 1.05 mm.

Head broadest at large, coarsely faceted and strongly convex eyes, HL 0.13 mm, HW 0.24 mm; vertex and frontoclypeal region convex; supraantennal tubercles barely marked. Punctures on head dorsum large, deep and sharply defined, equally distributed and separated by spaces about as wide as half puncture diameter; setae short and sparse, suberect. Antennae with strongly enlarged, strongly flattened and compactly assembled antennomeres X–XI and moderately enlarged antennomere IX, so that club appears two-segmented, AnL 0.35 mm; antennomere I about 1.6x as long as broad; II 2.3x as long as broad; III 1.2x as long as broad; IV–VII subequal in length and width, each 1.6x as long as broad; VIII slightly broader but distinctly shorter than VII, 1.2x as long as broad; IX clearly broader and longer than VIII, as long as broad; X much longer and broader than IX, slightly transverse; XI slightly narrower but distinctly longer than X, 1.6x as long as broad.

Pronotum approximately semielliptical, broadest slightly anterior to middle; PL 0.33 mm, PW 0.45 mm, anterior margin weakly rounded; lateral margins distinctly microserrate, strongly rounded in anterior half, very weakly concave in posterior 1/4 and distinctly convergent towards sharp and acute hind angles; posterior margin feebly bisinuate; sublateral carinae distinct and as long as pronotum. Transverse ante-basal groove shallow but sharply marked and slightly arcuate; sublateral ante-basal foveae small and shallow; lateral foveae deep and large. Punctures on median part of pronotal disc larger than those on head, deep and sharply marked, separated by spaces as wide as half puncture diameter, punctures between sublateral pronotal carinae and lateral margins of pronotum slightly larger and denser than those in middle; setae sparse, moderately long, suberect.

Elytra strongly convex, oval, broadest between middle and anterior 1/3; EL 0.60 mm, EW 0.50 mm, EI 1.20; base of each elytron with rudimentary fovea located much closer to scutellum than to base of humeral carina; subhumeral carinae distinct, slightly shorter than 1/3 of EL; humeral carinae slightly less distinct and slightly shorter. Punctures on elytra very fine and shallow but with sharp margins, separated by spaces 1.5– 2 x as wide as puncture diameter; setae similar as those on pronotum.

Legs moderately long and slender; all tibiae nearly straight.

Aedeagus (Figs. 13, 14) in ventral view drop-shaped with narrow, subtriangular and pointed apex; AeL 0.24 mm. Endophallus darkly sclerotized, with two pairs of elongate sclerites—shorter and strongly curved median pair and longer lateral, nearly straight pair directed towards apex of aedeagus; parameres slender, not exceeding apex of median lobe, each bearing single apical seta.

Female. Unknown.

Distribution. East Malaysia (Borneo: Sabah).

Etymology. Locotypical, after the state Sarawak of Malaysia.
