Catharosoma pedritense View in CoL new species Figs 18–25 View FIGURES 18, 19 View FIGURES 24, 25
Type material: Male holotype from Dom Pedrito (54º40’23”W, 30º58’58”S), Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, 01. VI . 1978 , C. J. Becker leg. ( MCN 131 ).
Diagnosis: Catharosoma pedritense n. sp. strongly resembles C. promatense n. sp. by the shape of the sternal structures (Figs 12, 20), but differs by the paramedian process and tufts of setae on sternum between coxae of leg pair 6 longer, colour pattern without two paramedian stripes and by the shape of the parabasal lobe (p) of the solenophore which is quadrate (Figs 23-25)—this shape being different from all species known in the genus.
Description: Male holotype ( Figs 18, 19 View FIGURES 18, 19 ). Length 23 mm and maximum width of midbody 1.9 mm. Coloration (in alcohol): generally yellowish, but legs and antennae pale yellow. White, axial, dorsal line present. Legs densely setose, tibiae swollen ventrally with brushes starting in leg pair 10 until two last pairs. Male coxae of leg pair 2 with a prominent gonapophysis. Antennae relatively long, in situ reaching behind body ring 4 dorsally. Frons and clypeus smooth and setose. Integument smooth and shining. Ozopores lateral, poorly visible. Limbus thin and entire. Paraterga strongly reduced, arcuate sulci on body rings 2–4, missing thereafter. Epiproct pointed, rather long, with a dorsal and a ventral pair of spinnerets. Hypoproct subtriangular and relatively short. Sternal structures of male (Fig. 20). Sternal structures with longer paramedian process and tufts of setae on sternum between coxae of leg pair 6. Postgonopodal sterna with paramedian spines. Gonopods (Figs 21–25) complex, subcircular and elongated. Gonocoxite subcylindrical. A usual, densely setose, prefemoral portion somewhat shorter than a large femorite. Postfemoral portion excavated. Solenophore (sph) with a parabasal lobe (p) unciform in ventral view and quadrate in dorsal view.
Female: Unknown.
