Distribution. Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, French Guiana, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Suriname, Uruguay and Venezuela ( Dominguez-Gil & McPherson 1992, Maes & Ĝllner-Scheiding 1993, Packauskas 2010, Brailovsky 2014 b, Linares & Orozco 2017). Bolivia and Trinidad are new country records. In the interest of Mexico’s size and being the northern limit of its distribution, we include new records for Mexico as well. Brailovsky & Sanchez (1983) recorded H. histrio from the Mexican states of Campeche, Guanajuato and Veracruz.
