Etymology. From the Latin, trispinosa (with three spines), relating to the number of cuspidate setae on the ventral propodal margin of pereopod 1, following the terminology of K. bispinosa Guţu & Heard, 2002.

Type-locality: Santos Basin, 24° 18’ S – 44° 04’ W, 230 m.

Geographic d istribution. Brazil, Santos Basin, 230m.

Remarks. Kudinopasternakia trispinosa n. sp. also has compound distodorsal setae on the propodus of pereopod 4 as seen in K. bispinosa but, instead of it bearing five foliaceous lobes, that of the new species has three lobes with tiny spiniform setae on their proximal half. Besides feature and the ornamentation of pereopod 1, the new species differs from K. bispinosa by having pleonites pointed laterally.

The other Kudinopasternakia species that has compound distodorsal setae on the propodal margin of pereopod 4 is K. amazonica n. sp., but that species lacks foliaceous lobes on top, apart from several spiniform setae ventrally.
