Rhipicephalus haemaphysaloides Supino, 1897 View in CoL

Rhipicepalus haemaphysaloides View in CoL is a common parasite of wild and domestic stock throughout continental Southeast Asia. It has also been recorded from monkeys and humans ( Walker et al. 2000), and relatively frequently from wild carnivores ( Grassman et al. 2004). Immatures feed predominantly on rodents, although insectivores and small carnivores have also been recorded as hosts. It has been reported from Cambodia, Lao PDR, peninsular Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam ( Petney and Keirans 1996b; Robbins et al. 1997). The life history of this species under laboratory conditions was described by Bhat and Jacob (1982) and Diyes et al. (2017).

Males and females are described in Walker et al. (2000). These authors also provide illustrations of the nymphal and larval capitulum.
