DISTRIBUTION: NA.

NEW RECORDS: BM76, BM78.

REMARKS: Alien species in the Mediterranean with Eastern Pacific origin ( Zenetos et al. 2010). The species was originally described from Acapulco, Western Mexico ( Rioja 1942) as Spirorbis (Pileolaria) . It was recorded in the Mediterranean Sea for the first time in a harbour of the western basin ( Zibrowius & Bianchi 1981). Nowadays its distribution is considered to be circumglobal in the Northern Hemisphere ( Rzhavsky 2010). These are the first records from the Adriatic Sea.

NEW RECORDS: BM14, BM68, BM76, BM78; south of Brindisi ( Italy, SA), in 1988 (A. Giangrande, pers. comm.). OTHER REPORTED NAMES: Spirorbis militaris Claparède, 1870 ; Spirorbis mediterraneus Caullery & Mesnil, 1897 ; Laeospira militaris Claparède, 1868 ; Laeospira mediterraneus (Caullery & Mesnil, 1897) .
