Lomaridium ensiforme (Liebm.) Gasper & V.A.O.Dittrich, Phytotaxa View in CoL 275(3): 212. 2016.
= Blechnum ensiforme (Liebm.) C.Chr., Index Filic. 153. 1905.
Range:— Southern Mexico to Panama; Guyana; Andes from Venezuela to Bolivia (CO, LP, SC).
Ecology:— Common; hemiepiphytic in humid forests, especially on tree ferns; 1100–2900 m.
Notes:— The blades are somewhat similar to those of Austroblechnum divergens , but that species is terrestrial. The name Lomaridium plumieri (Desv.) C.Presl , type from Martinique, antedates L. ensiforme , and was used for some Bolivian specimens of this species by Dittrich et al. (2017) as well as for specimens from southern Brazil and elsewhere, but we are not convinced that this name is applicable to any specimens from South America. Lomaridium plumieri was discussed in a revision of North American taxa of Struthiopteris by Broadhurst (1912). Certainly, the taxa in this group are in need of a modern revision in the Neotropics.
