Blechnum australe View in CoL L., Mant. Pl. 130. 1767.

Range:— Bolivia (TA) to southern Brazil, Uruguay, and central Argentina; subsp. australe occurs in southern Africa, Madagascar, and southern islands in the Indian and Atlantic Oceans.

Ecology:— Rare; terrestrial in semihumid habitats; 2700 m; down to sea level elsewhere.

Notes:— The Bolivian specimens are assigned to subsp. auriculatum (Cav.) de la Sota.
