Enicospilus undulatus (Gravenhorst, 1829) View in CoL

Ophion undulatus (Gravenhorst, 1829) : 697, type lost. Material examined: IRAN: 4♀♀, Teheran Province, Firooz kuh, 35˚45’48.21"N, 52˚45’24.40"E, 1981 m. a. s., 10 Jun. 2007, Lofalizadeh leg. ( HMIM) .

Remarks: New record for Iran. A member of the subgenus Allocamptus , which is characterized by the absence of alar sclerites and the strongly sinuate 2r&RS vein. Townes (1961) synonymises Enicospilus arcuatus Brullé (type stored in MNHN) with E. undulatus . However, the type of E. arcuatus does not represent E. undulatus and the synonymisation is rejected (Johansson in prep.). Enicospilus undulatus is most likely a parasitoid of moths of the subgenus Pachygastria Hübner, 1820 ( Johansson & Hall 2020). Enicospilus undulatus was separated from the similar Enicospilus inflexus (Ratzeburg) by Kriechbaumer (1901), but the separation did not gain wider acceptance until Gauld (1974). Any references in literature preceeding 1974 of publication is likely to refer to either species.
