Localities: Agatti, Amini, Androth, Bitra, Chetlet, Kadmat, Kalpeni, Kavaratti, Kilton and Minicoy

Habitat: Rocky intertidal, subtidal, lagoons, inner reef platform, sea grass bed, sandy shores

Depth: 0.2– 5 m

Specimens examined, observed: 10, 161

Length: 23–59 mm

Remarks: The general appearance of the Conus canonicus shell closely resembles that of C. textile , but the latter generally has smaller reticulations and triangular markings that more completely cover the surface ( Figs. 2M–O, 2P–R View FIGURE 2 ). Two different forms were collected in the study; one from rocky intertidal and sea grass beds ( Fig. 2M–O View FIGURE 2 ) and the other only from lagoons ( Fig. 2P–R View FIGURE 2 ).
