Type host: Anthus trivialis (Linnaeus) ( Passeriformes : Motacillidae ). Type locality: Germany.

PHYSOGASTRIC FEMALE (2 specimens from additional host— Anthus cervinus from Poland). Body bulbshaped outline. Gnathosoma . Infracapitulum apunctate. Each medial branch of peritremes with 5–6 chambers, each lateral branch short, with 4–6 poorly visible chambers. Movable cheliceral digit edentate in posterior part. Stylophore 110 long. Idiosoma . Propodonotal shield entire, densely punctate, bearing all propodonotal setae except c2. All propodonotal setae distinctly ornamented. Setae si 4.8–5.2 times longer than vi. Setae c1 located anterior to level of setae se. Hysteronotal shield absent. Setae d1 situated closer to setae e2 than to d2. Setae d2 1.3–1.5 times longer than e2. Pygidial shield well developed, apunctate. Setae f2 2.4–2.6 times longer than f1. Setae f1 and h1 subequal in length. Setae h2 7 times longer than h1. Aggenital setae ag1 situated anterior to level of setae ag2. Genital plate absent. Length ratio of setae ag1: ag2: ag3 2:1:2. Setae ps1 and ps2 minute and subequal in length. Coxal fields I–IV well developed, apunctate. Setae 3c 2.8 times longer than 3b. Legs. Most of dorsal setae of legs I and II lightly beaded. Antaxial and paraxial members of claws pair III and IV subequal in size. Setae tc”III–IV slightly (1.1–1.2 times) longer than tc’ III–IV. Lengths of setae: vi 25, si 120–130, c2 135–140, se 130–140, d2 130–145, e 100, f2 60–65, h2 170–175, f1 25, d1 120, h1 25, ps and g 5, 1a 40, 3a 40–45, ag1 85–90, ag2 40–45, ag3 80–90, l’RIII 20, l’RIV 20, tc’III–IV 40, tc”III–IV 50–55, 3b 25, 3c 70.

MALE. Unknown.

Type material (not examined). All type material of this species is lost ( Kethley 1970).

Non-type material examined. Anthus cervinus (Pallas) ( Passeriformes : Motacillidae ): 2 females (physogastric forms) ( AMU –SYR.272) (bod.); POLAND , Schlesien, no other data. Material deposited in the AMU. Host specimen deposited in the MNHW .

Host range and habitat. Oligoxenous species inhabiting quills of body feathers of two species of the genus Anthus : A. trivialis and A. cervinus .

Distribution. Germany and Poland.
