Guilan province: Roodsar, Rahim abad, Ghazichak (36°45′52.62″ N, 50°20′01.08″ E, 1787 m a. s. l.), 12.iv.2010, 1♀; 31.v.2010, 1♀, 2♂; Roodsar, Rahim abad, Ziaz (36°52′34.44″ N, 50°13′17.40″ E, 537 m a. s. l.), 19.iv.2010, 1♂; 25.iv.2010, 1♀; 10.v.2010, 3♀; 17.v.2010, 2♀; 07.vi.2010, 4♀; Mazandaran province: Noor, Chamestan, Joorband (36°26′17.28″ N, 52°07′16.62″ E, 272 m a. s. l.), 16.viii.2011, 1♂; 05.xi.2011, 2♂; Noor, Chamestan, Tangehvaz (36°21′55.68″ N, 52°06′10.32″ E, 702 m a. s. l.), 13.vii.2011, 1♀; leg. Diagnostic characters (female). Body length 5.0– 6.1 mm; antenna with 35–41 segments; compound eyes moderately large ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 A); face 1.3–1.4 × as wide as its height, hypoclypeal depression as wide as its distance from compound eye ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 B); postocellar line 1.3 × and ocular-ocellar line 1.9–2.0 × longer than ocellar diameter ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 C), length of temple 0.6 × length of compound eye in dorsal view ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 C); mesopleuron densely punctate ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 D); vein r of fore wing 0.3 × as long as 3-SR, vein 2-CU1 1.7 × longer than vein 1-CU1 ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 E), marginal cell of hind wing parallel-sided apically; claws simple; first metasomal tergite distinctly narrowed basally, second metasomal tergite slightly transverse ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 F).
Coloration. Variable, body black; head and mesosoma variable, usually black, with black pattern ( Fig. 8 View FIGURE 8 D), lower part of mesopleuron and propodeum in lateral view reddish yellow ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 D); legs reddish yellow, rarely hind femur dark; metasomal tergites usually black, yellow in apical first metasomal tergite, medial second metasomal tergite and basal third metasomal tergite ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 F).
General distribution. eastern and western Palaearctic.
Distribution in Iran. Not exactly defined ( Telenga 1941; Shenefelt 1975), Golestan ( Ghahari et al. 2009), Fars ( Lashkari-Bod et al. 2011), Ilam ( Ghahari et al. 2011a), West Azerbaijan ( Rastegar et al. 2012), Guilan and Mazandaran provinces (current study).
Remarks. In the past this species has been confused with several other species, especially A. gastritor (Thunberg) and literature data cannot be trusted.
