Holotype male seen; in good condition.
Diagnosis. Very distinctive large species (6–8 mm); general colour brown with grey pollinosity; abdomen with no marks; palpus yellow with extreme apex black; legs yellow, except for dorsal apical third of fore femur and dorsal apical fourth of mid and hind femora; arista with short hairs; proboscis strong and teeth well-developed; scutellum with both pairs of setae present and long, and with setulae on disc; anterior katepisternal very fine and almost not distinct from the discal setulae; lower calypter about 2.5 times as long as upper one; haltere yellow; fore tibia with a posteroventral seta; hind coxa with 2 outstanding setae and a few smaller ones; hind tibia with one anterior and one anterodorsal inserted at almost the same level and of almost the same size; ventral surfaces of abdomen, femora and tibiae with dense, fine erect hairs.
Notes. Included in the calopoda group. Known only from the male holotype.
