Distribution and habitat: — Brazil ( Bahia , endemic to the Catolés region, Chapada Diamantina ). Campo rupestre; 1700–2000 m.

Taxonomic Notes: —A rarely collected species characterized by the 25-flowered capitula only concrescent at the base. Similar to Paralychnophora bicolor : see that species for a discussion of the differences.
