Distribution: It occurs from Mexico to Argentina ( Rico-Arce 2007); in Brazil it occurs in states of all regions, in the South region it occurs only in the state of Paraná ( Flora do Brasil 2020). In ParNa Iguaçu it occurs in the Foz do Iguaçu area and in Santa Tereza do Oeste of the western portion of the Céu Azul area.

Reproductive period: According to Barros & Morim (2014) it flowers from December to August and fruits from Februrary to December. In ParNa Iguaçu it was found in flower in February and March, in fruit in April, May, June and August.

Diagnostic characteristics: Arboreal species with great morphological plasticity with bipinnate leaves, however, it is easily distinguished by its branches with conspicuous greyish striations, straight or incurved prickles, elevatedconcave petiolar nectaries, inflorescences in glomerules and flowers shortly pedicellate ( Barros & Morim 2014).

Conservation: Native-NE.
