Distribution: Widely distributed in the Neotropics, occurring in the Caribbean islands and from Honduras to Brazil ( Moura et al. 2013); in Brazil it occurs in states of all regions ( Flora do Brasil 2020). In ParNa Iguaçu it occurs in the Foz do Iguaçu area.

Reproductive period: According to Moura et al. (2013) it is found in flower and fruit from October to July. In ParNa Iguaçu it was found in flower in January and April.

Diagnostic characteristics: Lianas with 3-foliolate leaves, pendent inflorescences from the forest canopy and greenish-burgundy petals.

Conservation: Native-NE.
