Ocychinus kalabi View in CoL spec. nov.

( Figs. 6–9 View FIGURES 1 – 9 )

Type material. Holotype (male): CHINA: Sichuan: “ CHINA. N Sichuan pass 25 km NNE Zhangla 33.04N / 103.44E. 3500 m 3–5.VIII. 2001 forest coniferous J. Kaláb leg.” (ASC).

Description. In all characters quite similar to O. businskorum Smetana, 2003 but different as follows: size slightly larger, punctation on lateral portions of head less coarse and less extensive, punctation of disc of head similar, but distinctly finer and in general difficult to see; eyes slightly larger, tempora therefore less distinctly longer than eyes from above (ratio 1.37, corresponding ratio in O. businskorum 1.60). Punctation of pronotum entirely obsolete, pronotum appearing impunctate, surface highly polished. Punctation of tergite 2 (in front of first visible tergite) denser and coarser.

Male. Medioapical emargination of sternite 8 similar to that of O. businskorum . Male genital segment with sternite 9 similar to that of O. businskorum , but more elongate, widely emarginate at apex ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 1 – 9 ). Tergite 10 similar, but wider and with apical portion not appreciably differentiated ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 1 – 9 ). Aedoeagus as in Figs. 8, 9 View FIGURES 1 – 9 , similar to that of O. businskorum , but markedly smaller with shorter apical portion; paramere shorter and wider, with apex situated much closer to apex of median lobe; apical portion of underside of paramere with numerous variably long setae along both lateral margins, and with two stout, spinelike setae ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 1 – 9 ).

Female. Unknown.

Length 10.0 mm.

Geographical distribution. Ocychinus kalabi is at present known only from the type locality in northern Sichuan.

Bionomics. The holotype was apparently taken from a pitfall trap set in a coniferous forest, but details about the habitat are not known.

Recognition. Ocychinus kalabi may be only confused with O. businskorum , the only similarly small species of the genus, but it may be easily distinguished by the characters given in the description.

Etymology. Patronymic, the species is named in honour of the collector of the holotype, Mr. J. Kaláb, Brno, Czech Republic.
