Diagnosis. Tibiae pale white or apically to entirely brownish ( Figs 23 g–i). Head very thick, semicircular in dorsal view ( Fig. 23 a). Antenna with funicle 4-segmented and clava one-segmented ( Figs 23 e–f). Posterior margin of MLM strongly emarginate, separated by a distinct, narrow semicircular hole from base of scutellum ( Fig. 23 a). Notauli distinct and running as deep inner margins of notaular depressions. Scutellum longitudinally striate at anterior sides, coarsely reticulate medially and posteriorly.

Biology. In China, P. atamiensis has been recorded as a secondary parasitoid of Euplectrus spp. (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae) (Sheng 1994). Additionally, as a primary parasitoid, specimens of P. atamiensis deposited in IZCAS were recorded from Laphygma exigua Hübner (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) and Naranga aenescens (Moore) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae).

Distribution in China. Fujian, Guangxi, Hainan, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, Shandong.

Remarks. For Chinese specimens of P. atamiensis examined here, the tibiae may vary with different populations from pale or apically to entirely brownish yellow ( Figs 23 g–i). Pediobius atamiensis is a distinctive species having flagellum with four funicular segments and 1-segmented clava, and pale tibiae. Based on this, P. atamiensis is close to P. agaristae (Cameron) . Besides, they have similar sculpture of head and mesosoma, and their heads are both very thick and semicircular in dorsal view ( Fig. 23 a). Pediobius agaristae can be separated from P. atamiensis by the following combination of characters: body quite small and stout; posterior margin of MLM not emarginated; Gt1 distinctly exceeding the middle and occupying about 3/4 length of gaster.
