A brief overview of Schistophleps Hampson View in CoL species
The genus includes a total of 35 species, including the new species described herein, distributed in the Oriental and Australian regions. These species are clearly dividable into several groups on the basis of wing maculations. The following is a brief overview of the groups of species. Since the genitalia of most species are not well known, the diagnostic features are largely on the basis of wing markings. The division into these species groups is an initial arrangement of the species within this genus. Considering the variability in wing pattern elements and genitalia configurations, we suggest a taxonomic review of the whole genus incorporating both morphological as well as the molecular characteristics.
