Material examined. 1 n-ov. female, Ilha de Santa Bárbara (17°57’28”S 38°42’19”W), coll. R.M.C. Barbosa & L.M. Fernandes, 31.viii. 2013, 11 m, in sponges, UESC 1559; 1 n-ov. female, same collection data, in dead coral rubble, UESC 1560; 1 n-ov. female, Ilha de Santa Bárbara (17°57’31”S 38°42’16”W), coll. R.M.C. Barbosa & L.M. Fernandes, 03.ix. 2013, 9 m, in sponges, UESC 1561.

Distribution. Western Atlantic—Gulf of Mexico (off Texas), Caribbean Sea (Yucatan Peninsula to Venezuela) and Brazil (Atol das Rocas, Ceará, Alagoas, Bahia to São Paulo) ( Coutière 1909; Chace 1956; Anker et al. 2012).

Previous records from Abrolhos. None.

Remarks. Although S. antillensis is reported from Abrolhos for the first time, part of Christoffersen’s (1979) material of S. minus ( Say, 1818) from Brazil (including Abrolhos) may correspond to S. antillensis (Anker et al. 2012) . The morphology and color pattern of our material agrees very well with the illustrations and descriptions provided by Anker et al. (2012). A color photograph of a specimen from the Bahia coast was provided by Santos et al. [2012: 153, fig. 4D, as “ S. brevicarpus ( Herrick, 1891) species complex”].
