Types: The holotype female is considered lost since 1916 ( Werneck 1945). Therefore, a neotype was erected by Price & Hellenthal (1981a) from Thomomys bottae bottae and deposited in EMEC

Note: The record of G. californicus from Perognathus sp. is considered an erroneous association because this louse species has been recorded from rodents of the genus Thomomys only (see Price & Emerson 1971).
