Diagnosis: Same as for family with widely spaced major teeth and distinct interproximal teeth on trophi.

Type species: Coronistomus impossibilis sp. nov. by monotypy.

Etymology. From the combination of the Latin corona (crown), traditionally used to describe the anterior ciliary organs of rotifers, and the Greek stoma (mouth), in reference to the anatomically united corona and mouth of the new taxon. Gender, masculine.
