Diagnosis. This species is the sister taxon to Tetralobus (Costa et al. 1994; Kundrata et al. 2018, 2019) from which it differs in having the anterior frontal margin not turned upwards, outer margin of prosternal process simple, i.e., without a subapical indentation, and elytral epipleura distally widely open (Costa et al. 1994). Males are easily recognized from females based on their flabellate antennae (pectinate in females) ( Figs. 1A–B, D–E View Fig ).

Additionally, specimens from MYANMAR were identified based on detailed photographs provided by Dr. Sang Woo Jung, South Korea. These specimens were collected using light traps at two sites: 1) Kachin State, Putao Town , Upper Shankhaung , 27°25 ′ 26.6 ′′ N, 97°16 ′ 33.1 ′′ E, 23.IV.2019, S. W. Jung & Y. H. Kim leg. (8 males) (Sang Woo Jung, personal communication) GoogleMaps . All specimens are deposited in NIBR, and a photograph of a living individual from Myanmar is shown in Fig. 2F View Fig .

Distribution ( Fig. 3 View Fig ). Vietnam: V~ ınh Phúc (type locality: Tam Ðảo); China: Fujian, Guangdong, Guizhou, Guangxi, Hainan, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, Jiangsu, Sichuan, Zhejiang, Tibet (new record), Yunnan (new record); Bhutan; Laos (new record): Xiang Khouang; Myanmar (new record): Kachin.

Natural History. Adults of this species mainly occur during April to September in mixed deciduous forests. The occurrence elevation varied from 143 m to 1,930 m. Most specimens were collected using light traps (e.g., Figs. 2D–G View Fig ). Living individuals in the wild were observed to be active on tree trunks, sucking tree sap together with other beetles, such as Cetoniinae ( Scarabaeidae ) ( Figs. 2A, C View Fig ). In the suburban forests of Xiangyang, Hubei, individuals feed on the sap of Quercus sp. (Fagaceae) ( Fig. 2A View Fig ) and Ulmus sp. (Ulmaceae) , and sometimes can be found on planted trees near the city, such as on Sophora sp. ( Fig. 2B View Fig ) (Mao Ye and Ji-Dong Chen, personal communication). In the forest of Xiachayu, Chayu, Xizang, individuals were frequently found on the same tree ( Rosaceae , probably a Padus sp. ) along with some Trigonophorus nepalensis Hope and Torynorrhina sp. (both Cetoniinae). They were wary, and when approached, they stopped feeding and crawled sideways quickly ( Fig. 2C View Fig ) (Hao Xu and Jian-Yue Qiu, personal communication). The larva of this species is still unknown to science.

Remarks. The record from Jiangsu Province was mentioned in Sun et al. (2011) and omitted from the most recent Tetralobinae catalogue (Kubaczkova and Kundrata 2017). The specimen reported by Sun et al. (2011) was collected by Dr. Hai-Tian Song, who provided us with an additional specimen from the same locality (see above), thus the occurrence of S. perroti in Jiangsu Province is here confirmed.
