Diagnosis

Hermatypic, plocoid, generally ramose, rarely massive or encrusting; septa are generally poorly developed and mostly arranged in two cycles; the columella is mostly poorly developed ( Veron & Pichon, 1976), strong tabular endothecal dissepiments. Verrucae are common, although in some species reduced or absent.
