Lamoha longirostris ( Chen, 1986) View in CoL

( Figs. 17A–D, 18A–G, 22B–D)

Hypsophrus longirostris Chen, 1986: 227 (misspelling of Hypsophrys View in CoL ).

Hypsophrys futuna Guinot & Richer de Forges, 1995: 456 , figs. 61l, 66a, g. — Cleva et al. 2007: 251 View Cited Treatment , fig. 20A.

Lamoha longirostris View in CoL — Ng & Chen 1999: 759. — Ng et al. 2001: 54. — Ng et al. 2008: 40.

Material examined. Philippines: eastern Luzon , AURORA 2007, stn. CP 2753, 15°37.23’N 121°58.24’E, 1252–1350 m, 3 June 2007: 1 male (27.1 x 22.2 mm) (NMCR), 1 male (28.9 x 23.8 mm, photographed) ( ZRC 2008.0990 View Materials ) GoogleMaps .— Stn. CP 2754, 15°39.54’N 121°57.07’E, 1273–1300 m, 3 June 2007: 1 ovigerous female (25.9 x 22.0 mm) ( MNHN-B31295 ) GoogleMaps . Taiwan: South China Sea , collected by Taiwan University, 1400 m: 2 ovigerous female (21.6 x 26.4 mm, 19.0 x 21.6 mm) ( ZRC 2008.0991 View Materials ) .— Tungsha Is., South China Sea , coll. P.-H. Ho, 23 April 1995: 1 male (25.5 x 20.3 mm) ( ZRC 1999.0410 View Materials ) .

Remarks. The specimens from the Pacific coast of the Philippines examined here are larger than those reported from the South China Sea and the Wallis and Futuna Islands (described as Hypsophrys futuna Guinot & Richer de Forges, 1995 ) ( Chen 1986; Ng & Chen 1999). The anterolateral spine is stronger in the Philippines material and the black spot on the male chela is relatively larger. These differences can probably be attributed to the larger sizes of the specimens. Individuals are usually bright red in colour when alive ( Fig. 18A–F) but sometimes deep orange ( Fig. 18G).
