Remarks. Latreillopsis bispinosa was described on the basis of material from the Challenger, a female from the island of Cebu in the Philippines. This species is common in muddy bottoms from 160 to 240 m in the Philippines. Guinot and Richer de Forges (1995) identified as L. bispinosa a large number of specimens collected by the MUSORSTOM cruises and separated some specimens having three subhepatic spines in place of two under the name of Latreillopsis bispinosa Henderson, 1888 , forme trispinosa nov. This name is not available under current zoological rules, and as such, we are describing a new species for this material below.
